My Review of the NCL Prima

I recently had the chance to sail on the Norwegian Prima, and overall it was a great experience. The ship is beautiful, modern, and packed with things to do. Here’s what stood out to me—both the highlights and a few things to keep in mind.

VIKING, A LEADER IN INNOVATION

One of the fastest growing segments in the travel industry
is cruising.  There are cruises around the world and any length from 2 days and up to a year.  Cruises can be on the ocean or on a river and Viking is one of the pioneering cruise lines. Known for its amazing river trips in Europe and Asia.  Viking cruises allow travelers to really get to see the countries they are passing thru.  Viking ships stop in small towns, having planned excursion that allows time for the travelers to explore.  Viking cruises are all inclusive, which means that the their cruise, excursions,  wine, beer and soft drinks during your meals and internet service, to name a few of the amenities that are included.

Last year Viking announced that it was expanding its high standard of cruising to the ocean; with their new ship the Viking Star.  The itineraries are in the Mediterranean Ocean and the Baltic Sea.  The ship will still be a more intimate environment than the mega cruise ships with only 930 passengers.  One of the unique aspect of the Viking Star is the Nordic-like spa that includes a snow room.  The main restaurant has windows that can open in good weather and all cabins are nice size with a veranda.

Recently Viking announced that they will be building 6 new ships to do river cruises up the Mississippi. This is an exciting expansion for the company.  These cruises should deploy in 2017.  The ships’ homeport will be New Orleans, which is a great boost in the Louisiana ecomony because it will create close to 1,000 jobs.  Also, because of US law all ships operating in the US have to be US owned and crewed by U.S. citizens.  These cruises will have the same quality and excitement as the European river cruises.

There is great excitement within Viking and the cruises are filling up quickly. Be one of the first to experience either a Viking Ocean Cruise or the Mississippi River Cruise.
